Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | by Conor McPartlin

Women's soccer battles tough opponent to scoreless draw

Albion hung with a talented Lynchburg program to end a 1-0-1 weekend in Virginia.

There are few times when a tie can be considered a win. This was the case on Sunday, September 11th, as the final score between the Albion women's soccer team and the Hornets of the University of Lynchburg was 0-0. The Britons leave a weekend of play in Virginia with a win and a tie.

There were a few positives from the Brits tie. For one, Lynchburg was nationally ranked last season, even making a trip to the NCAA tournament. They had thirteen shots throughout the match, three of which were on goal and saved by Romee Natschke (the Britons only had two, each by Megan Loney). Speaking of Natschke, she has had 360 scoreless minutes of action this season.

Coach Scott was thrilled with his team's performance. "[I'm] very happy that we were able to compete with a traditional ODAC power. We were much better in the second half with the group challenging themselves to represent our personality better". He also had some big takeaways from the weekend that could help the Brits for the rest of their season. "Romee and the back line were excellent all weekend".

The Britons get a week off before facing Franklin College at home on Saturday, September 17th at 2:00 PM. Albion is now 2-0-2 overall this year.
