Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer stays hot, unbeaten

ALBION – Despite conceding their first goal of 2022, the Albion College women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak, defeating Franklin College, 3-1. The Brits held possession a majority of the game to improve to 3-0-2 this season.

In the 12th minute, junior Abby Rose scored her first goal of the season to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Rose followed up another Albion shot and netted home a rebound for the score.

Franklin later tied up the match at one, but the Britons would score a second goal before the break. Freshman Olivia Buchweitz netted her first collegiate goal in the 39th minute, putting the Brits back on top at halftime.

Looking for an insurance goal, Megan Loney provided Albion with the answer. Loney scored her second goal of the second – on her birthday – converting a penalty kick opportunity and lifting Albion ahead, 3-1.

Albion outshot the Grizzlies by an 18-4 margin. Romee Natschke collected two saves in the win.

The Britons will remain on their home pitch on Tuesday, hosting Illinois Wesleyan. The Tuesday matinee is slated for 3 p.m.
