Three take home Athlete of the Week honors

Hunter Williams, Chloe Webber and Luke Lovell were honored by the MIAA.

LANSING, Mich. – Three Albion College athletes have been chosen as the MIAA Athletes of the Week. Football's Luke Lovell and Hunter Williams were selected, while volleyball's Chloe Webber won the award for the second consecutive week.

Lovell and Williams played a large part in the football team's 49-17 win over Rose-Hulman. Lovell was 15 of 23 for a career-best 321 yards and six touchdowns. The six TD passes ties an Albion record for the most in a game. He also added one with his legs – accounting for all seven Briton scores.

With three punts, Williams booted one inside the 20 and averaged 45.3 yards per punt. The senior also recorded eight kickoffs for 467 yards on the day – averaging 58.4 yards. He also serves as the holder on PATs – where the Brits converted all seven attempts.

On Sunday, the Britons were officially ranked in the D3Football.com poll – coming in at No. 23. They alswo were tabbed 20th in the AFCA Poll. Albion will head to Wisconsin for a matchup against UW-Eau Claire on Saturday. Kick off is at 1 p.m. CST.

Webber stayed hot and was the go-to hitter in Albion's 5-0 week. The No. 22 ranked Brits swept four of their five opponents on the week, and had a remarkable comeback against Baldwin Wallace to eliminate any chance of a fifth set. Attacking at a team-high .383 clip, the Marshall native had 65 kills and 19 total blocks in just 17 sets.

Webber and the volleyball team open conference play Tuesday at Hope College. As of last week's AVCA Top 25 Poll, the Flying Dutch were No. 9. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
