Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

No. 22 volleyball handily sweeps Alma

ALBION – After a devastating loss on Saturday, the No. 22 ranked Albion College volleyball team righted the ship in a blowout win over Alma College. In the sweep, the Brits won by margins of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-8.

Chloe Webber led the attack for Albion with 12 kills and a .400 hitting percentage. She also added five blocks – a game-high.

Defensively, Jenna Schienke (15 digs) and Courtney Companion (10 digs) finished in double-digits. Junior setter Mariah Brenz finished with 25 assists and five kills.

Alma kept Albion close in the first set, as the Britons still appeared to be suffering a hangover from Saturday's loss. With the score tied up at 22, Webber's kill gave the ball back to the Britons. The fifth year senior closed out the set with two more kills to help the hosts prevail in the opener.

Midway through the second, Albion went on a 7-0 run, thanks in part to Olivia Alexander. In that stretch, the junior had three service aces. Extending the Briton lead to 18-9, Albion remained in total control. Jesse Hepner tallied one of her seven kills to give the Brits a 25-14 win.

A 6-0 run in the third – this time with Schienke back to serve – aided the Britons to a 19-7 advantage.

Albion finished with seven total blocks in the contest.

Alma attacked at a .011 clip compared to Albion's .363. The Britons – Webber, Brenz and Kaylynne Nicholson – attacked at a .400 mark or better.

The Brits improve to 14-2 overall, 2-1 in the rugged MIAA.

On Friday, the Britons will travel to Indiana to face a tough Earlham College team. Game time against the Quakers is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
