WSOC home opener ends in scoreless draw

ALBION – In their 2022 home debut, the Albion College women's soccer team battled to a scoreless tie with Millikin University. The Britons had a pair of scoring chances in the first half, but were turned away by the Big Blue keeper. 

On the young season, Albion moves to 1-0-1 while Millikin's record now stands at 1-0-2.

In the 30th minute, Albion had a pair of back to back shots that the Millikin keeper made marvelous saves on. The second – off a rebound off the foot of Megan Loney – was narrowly swatted away by the right hand of the keeper, preserving the tie. 

In the second half, Millikin had a few more looks, but nothing significant as the match would end in a draw. 

For the second straight match, senior goalkeeper Romee Natschke walked away with a clean sheet. 

Albion held a significant edge in corners (10-0) and shots (13-3). 

The Britons maintained possession for a majority of the game, but did not get many great scoring looks. 

Albion will be idle until the weekend when they have a two-day trip to Virginia. On Saturday, the Britons will play Roanoke followed by Lynchburg on Sunday.
