Volleyball stays hot for fourth straight win

Albion made easy work of Manchester, earning their third sweep in four games.

MANCHESTER, Ind. – For the fourth time in the Kristin Slamer-de St. Aubin era, the Albion College volleyball team has started the season 4-0. On Tuesday, the Britons earned a 3-0 sweep over Manchester University – winning their 11th consecutive set. 

Fifth year senior Chloe Webber continues to impress, attacking at a .526 mark for 12 kills. 

Mariah Brenz dished out 20 assists in the win. 

Holding a 20-17 lead, the Brits rallied to score the final five points of the opening set. An ace off the hand of Olivia Alexander was followed by a Jenna Schienke kill for a 25-17 victory. 

The second set was a much tighter game, as Albion came away with the 25-20 victory. The Spartans cut Albion's lead to three, but two attack errors by the hosts aided the Britons to hold a two set lead in the match. 

Albion cruised its way to a 25-11 win in the final set.

Manchester committed 24 attack errors on the evening, compared to just nine by the visitors.  

The Britons improve to 4-0 overall while the Spartans move to 2-2. 

This weekend, the test gets harder for the VolleyBrits, as they travel to Hope College for the MIAA-NCAC Crossover. On Friday, Albion kicks off the weekend with a 5:30 p.m. match against Ohio Wesleyan.
