Garland nets 27 in loss

ALBION – Fred Garland tied a career-high 27 points in the Albion College men's basketball team's 91-67 loss to Hope College on Saturday evening. 

In addition to Garland's 27, the Britons received 18 points from senior Ken Thomas. AJ Barden brought down a career-best 10 rebounds in the loss. 

Hope controlled the tempo early and often, building their lead to 14 points heading into the second half. The deficit was too much for Albion to overcome, as the Flying Dutchmen received a 26 point effort from Evan Thomas. 

Typically stellar inside, the Brits were outscored in the paint, 44-36. 

Hope shot 47.6 percent from beyond the arc, helping to secure the road victory. 

The Britons host Olivet College on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
