Women's soccer settles for draw on the road

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Settling for another draw, the Albion College women's soccer team tied with Saint Mary's College, 2-2. Albion moves to 4-1-7 on the season, 1-0-3 in the MIAA.

Albion converted on another corner this season, with this one coming from Avery Cammpbell. Senior Abby Rose continued her stretch of playing a perfect ball into the box, as Campbell got a foot on it to sneak it past the SMC keeper. Campbell's team-leading fifth goal of the season saw the Brits lead 1-0 in the 17th minute.

After the Belles evened the score later in the half on a ball well outside the 18, the teams went into halftime knotted at one.

SMC had another chance in the second half on a penalty kick, but keeper Romee Natschke guessed correctly, lunging to her right and making the save, keeping the game locked at one. Moments later, the Belles took the lead following a scuffle in the box.

Junior Avery Kasanic netted the equalizer in the 70th minute, a penalty kick to the lower left corner.

On Saturday, Albion hosts the first half of a men's and women's doubleheader when Hope College comes to town. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
