Women's soccer salvages tie

ALBION – Avery Kasanic's dynamic strike in the 80th minute helped the Albion College women's soccer team draw with Hope College, 1-1. With their eighth tie of the season, the Brits set a new NCAA record for ties in a single season. 

In the 25th minute, Hope got on the board first with a shot to the lower left corner. The 1-0 lead was held by the visitors through the first half and much of the second half. 

Freshman Abby O'Connell – who had arguably her best game to date – slotted a perfect ball to Kasanic. The junior one touched the ball into the upper corner past the Hope keeper to even the game at one goal apiece. 

Romee Natschke made seven saves for the Britons. 

The Britons are now 4-1-8 on the season, 1-0-4 in the MIAA. 

Albion heads to Adrian on Wednesday for another conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
