Swim and dive back in action at MIAA Relays

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – On Friday, the Albion College swimming and diving teams got their first true taste of the conference at the MIAA Relays. This was an unscored meet hosted by Calvin University.

In the first race of the night, Albion's top team of Canon Rose, Andrew Woods, Ethan Boersma and Nick Johns swam a 1:42.48 in the 200 yard medley relay. Following it up on the women's side, the team of Alexis Glaser, Mattie Smith, Sage Gettings and Hannah Fathman took third. The quartet finished in 1:51.01, narrowly edged out of the second spot.

With a time of 2:10.27 was the 200 back relay team of Lauren Bailey, Olivia Perfili, Mikala Muccino and Chalondra Jewell.

Taking second in the women's 200 breaststroke relay was the team of Alyssa Glaser, Bryn Cavanaugh, Alexis Glaser and Mattie Smith. The team finished in 2:12.81.

In the 500 yard progressive free relay, the team of Mason Rose, Boersma, Johns and Jalen Hung clocked a 4:30.31. On the women's side with a time of 5:22.29 was the team of Muccino, Jewell, Cavanaugh and Perfili.

Boersma, Jacob Hyde, AJ Zako and Mason Rose's time of 1:38.87 helped them place fifth in the 200 yard fly relay. Coming in second logging a time of 1:50.66 was Fathman, Smith, Bailey and Gettings in the women's race.

With a time of 15:52.89, the men's 1500 yard free 3x500 relay squad of Johns, Hung and Kelvin Crone-Willis was fourth.

Ali Dakroub, Woods and the Glaser sisters competed in the mixed 200 yard medley relay, clocking in at 1:59.03.

In the 400 yard IM relay, Hung, Woods, Owen Schaaf and Crone-Willis finished with a race of 3:59.62. In the women's event, Smith, Gettings, Alexis Glaser and Cavanaugh took fourth (4:19.47).

Albion's 200 yard free relay team logged a time of 1:32.64. Swimming in the event for the Britons were Johns, Mason Rose, Hyde and Boersma. With a time of 1:43.94, the women's team finished top eight in the event. Fathman, Smith, Cavanaugh and Gettings competed for Albion.

Next Friday, the Brits head back to Calvin for a tri-meet against the Knights and Alma. The meet is scheduled for 5 p.m.
