HOLLAND, Mich. — Despite a valiant effort, the Albion College volleyball team's magical season ended in the MIAA Semifinals. The Britons dropped the match, 3-1 to No. 11 nationally ranked Calvin.
All-MIAA outsides
Olivia Alexander and
Kaylynne Nicholson led the offense, combining for 25 kills. Freshman middle
Margaret Jones added eight.
Mariah Brenz, another First Team All-MIAA pick, dished out 34 assists and recorded 12 digs.
Paige Williamson paced the defense, accumulating 20 digs for the Britons. Alexander added 17, as
Jenna Schienke and
Courtney Companion each finished with 10.
The loss ends the careers of one of the most historic classes in Albion volleyball history. Brenz, Alexander, Companion, Nicholson, Schienke and
Tori Balog have built a solid foundation for the program, earning wins over the Flying Dutch and Calvin along the way.
Albion's season comes to a close with an 18-11 overall mark, seeing them be the second seed for the first time ever in program history.
