Career days lead football over Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. – Dilon Denison's dream day helped the Albion College football team earn a 35-7 win over The University of Olivet. Denison hauled in five passes for a career-high 119 yards and one touchdown.

Sophomore Tayshuan Nichols also had a career day on the ground, rushing for 80 yards and one score. Luke Lovell was an incredible 24 of 34 for 327 yards and four touchdowns.

With 12 tackles, Jayth Joseph recorded a new career-best for the Brits. Alex Olenik and Nick Fannon each had 1.5 TFL.

Similar to other contests so far, the Britons won the coin toss and chose to receive. Turning their opening drive into seven points, the drive was capped when Lovell connected with Devin Fridley-Bell for an eight yard pass.

Albion's second score of the day came just before the end of the first quarter when Denison finished the drive with a 65-yard touchdown. Logan Grwinski's second PAT of the day was good, seeing the visitors hold a 14-0 lead after one.

The Britons added to their lead in the second quarter after Aiden Adams's first touchdown reception of the season. Adams brought down a pass from Lovell for 32 yards. After the touchdown, Albion led 20-7 at halftime.

Both teams were held scoreless in the third quarter before the Britons broke the game open in the fourth. Nichols ended the drive with a 6-yard touchdown run for a 27-7 lead. Albion later inflated its lead to 35-7 when Lovell hit Trevor Smith for a 7-yard touchdown. Chris Bowman's 2-point conversion rush was good to follow up the Smith score.

Albion threw for 327 yards compared to just 128 from the Comets. The Briton defense limited Olivet to 197 yards of total offense, as the visitors put up over 400 yards.

Larry Platt and newly runningback turned safety James Bloomfield each had an interception in the win.

Next Saturday, Albion wraps up the regular season with a 1 p.m. kickoff against Alma.
