Alma upends men's basketball

ALMA, Mich. – Unable to get anything going offensively, the Albion College men's basketball team dropped a 73-58 matchup against Alma College. The Britons shot just 34 percent from the floor and under 17 percent from three.

Junior Fred Garland was the only Albion player to finish in double figures, scoring 15 points in the loss. Typically dominant inside, AJ Barden (9 points, 8 rebounds) and Ken Thomas (8 points, 7 rebounds) were limited on offense.

Alma connected on all 17 of its free throws.

Trailing 13-9, the Brits could not close the gap, as Alma went on to build a 26-9 lead in the first half. The hosts would lead by double digits at halftime and hold on for the remainder of the game.

Albion committed 15 turnovers that led to 17 points from the Scots.

On Wednesday, the Britons head to Olivet for their final regular season road game. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
