McGann homers twice at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Matt McGann's bat stayed hot despite the Albion College baseball team being swept by Wittenberg University on Sunday. The junior catcher finished the day 4 for 7 with 5 RBI and a pair of long balls. 

In game one, the Tigers prevailed, 15-6. The Britons hung with the hosts for the first five innings before the Tigers rallied for a five run sixth, followed by five runs in the seventh to break the game open. 

Braeden Emery was 2 for 4 in the game with 2 RBI and a home run for the Britons. 

In addition to McGann, and Emery, Mark Lauro and Carson Dunn recorded multi-hit games for Albion. 

Wittenberg took the second game, 12-7 after leading early on. The Tigers built their lead to 6-0 after two before one swing of the bat by McGann cut the deficit in half. The junior went yard for the second time in the day for a 3-run shot. 

The hosts answered with five runs in the home half of the frame to regain a sizable lead. 

Ryker Mazey recorded three hits. 

Albion hosts Heidelberg on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. single game.
