Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball wraps up Florida week

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Tough.

After battling back to tie the game in the eighth, a walkoff double in the ninth ended the Albion College baseball team's Florida trip on a sour note, dropping a 6-5 game to Chatham University.

Without recording a hit, the Britons scratched across a run in the top of the second. Logan Farmer hit a high bouncer to the shortstop with the bases loaded. With only a play at first, Braeden Emery came across to score for a 1-0 lead.

Chatham answered back with three runs in the third, but Albion had a response in the top of the fourth. With two away, Carson Dunn worked a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. Senior Patrick Merolla laced a single into left, driving in Dunn and cutting the deficit to one.

Chatham regained a multi-run lead, scoring twice in the seventh. Similar to before, Albion immediately punched back with three in the eighth.

Back to back singles from Austyn Stephens and Jack Lasceski followed by a walk to Farmer loaded the bases. Dunn drew a bases loaded walk to bring home the first run of the inning. Merolla drove in his second of the game, lifting a sac fly to center to bring in Lasceski to bring the Brits within one. The scoring was capped off when Mark Lauro ripped a single to right to knot the game at five.

Chatham walked it off in the bottom of the ninth, ending the Florida trip in a tough way.

Albion will play at Franklin next weekend for a three game series.
