Tennis celebrates seniors on Saturday

ALBION – On Saturday, the Albion College men's and women's tennis teams celebrated seniors Brett Gurzell, Lili Robinson and Jesse Hepner as they hosted Adrian College. The men's team fell by a 6-3 margin, as the women dropped their match, 9-0.

On the men's side, the freshman duo of Jacob Doyle and Josh Doyle picked up an 8-5 win at third doubles. At second doubles, Brandon Blake and Brendan Morrison narrowly fell in a breaker.

In singles play, Morrison won at second singles, 6-3, 7-6(4) and Drake Malcolm earned a win at third singles, 6-2, 6-1.

For the men, the illustrious career of Gurzell comes to a close, He was named All-MIAA as a junior in 2022, and has served on the Albion College SAAC executive board.

The women dropped their match against a tough Bulldog squad. Junior captain Alura Reed fell in a breaker at fourth singles.

The women will wrap up their season on Tuesday at St. Mary's.
