Haynie's career night leads MLAX over North Central

ALBION – Another dominant performance by the Albion College men's lacrosse team helped the Britons to a 22-13 win over North Central College. Three Brits turned in six point performances – Sam Puzevic, Ethan Rottell and Marcus Haynie. 

The Britons jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, thanks to goals from Puzevic and Jace Conley. After the Cardinals tied the game up at two, Albion answered with a goal from freshman Cal Stearns. North Central scored a third to end the period, tying the game after one. 

Albion went on a 3-0 run to begin the second quarter, led by a pair of goals from Puzevic. The Cardinals brought the score to within one, but Stearns, Puzevic and Haynie responded with goals as Albion led 9-5 at halftime. 

Over the final five minutes of the third quarter, the Britons broke the game open, going on a 6-0 run. Heading into the final period, Albion was commanding the contest with a 19-7 lead. 

Puzevic led all Britons with five goals, adding one assist. Haynie – a freshman – had a career evening with four goals. 

Eddie Symons was solid from the faceoff X, winning 24 of 39, racking up 21 ground balls.

Senior Chad Burton caused a game-high three turnovers with the win. 

Stearns added four goals for the Brits. 

Jack Gogonis (6-3) earned the win in goal. 

Albion kicks off MIAA play on Saturday with a 3 p.m. game at Calvin.
