Liv to see it! Alexander dominates in win over Marietta

Olivia Alexander finished with 17 kills and 18 digs

ADA, Ohio – A 17-kill, 18-dig performance by Olivia Alexander helped the Albion College volleyball team right the ship, defeating Marietta College, 3-1. Alexander was one of four Brits to finish with double-digit digs, as Albion improved to 7-2. 

The Pioneers won the first set before the Britons stormed back to take the final three. Albion took the final four points of the set to win the second set, 25-15. In dominant fashion, the Brits received kills from Kaylynne Nicholson and Carly Frank to even the match at one set apiece. 

In the third, Marietta stormed out to an 11-3 lead. Undaunted, the Britons responded to take a 12-11 advantage. In that run, the Britons got a pair of kills from Nicholson and two aces off the right hand of Alexander. Freshman Reese Williams sent the Britons into the fourth set up 2-1 following a solo block to win the set, 25-20. 

Clinging to a 21-19 lead in the fourth, Ja'Nyece Larry slammed a kill to give the ball back to Albion. Two more kills from Alexander were followed by an ace from Courtney Companion, giving Albion the win. 

Freshman libero Paige Williamson led the defense with 20 digs. Jenna Schienke added 14, while Mariah Brenz tallied 18 digs to go along with her 39 assists. Frank had nine kills on the night and a team-best six blocks. 

Albion wraps up the weekend tomorrow with games at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Britons will play host Ohio Northern first before ending their weekend against Case Western Reserve.
