Men's tennis opens fall play with win

ALBION – In their 2023 fall opener, the Albion College men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Manchester University. Featuring a squad that saw plenty of action last season, the Britons returned to the courts feeling confident.

Now playing first doubles, Jacob Doyle and Josh Doyle earned an 8-4 win. Senior Drake Malcolm used his veteranship to lead doubles partner Peyton Bell, as the duo picked up an 8-2 win at second doubles. The Brits wrapped up doubles play with an 8-5 victory at third doubles from Brendan Morrison and Jacob Kubiak.

Morrison, a sophomore, excelled at first singles, winning with scores of 6-0, 6-2. Malcolm moved up to second singles and dominated in a 6-0, 6-0 win. Josh Doyle continued Albion's winning ways in singles play, winning 6-1, 6-2.

At fourth singles, Bell – a freshman – won 6-4, 6-0. With margins of 6-4, 6-3, Jacob Doyle came away victorious at fifth singles before Kubiak completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the final singles match.

Albion will host a doubles event on Sunday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
