Game Recap: Football |

DFB stays hot, FB moves to 4-0

The sophomore returned another punt for a TD in the win.

ALBION – Career days, solid defense and another special teams touchdown aided the Albion College football team to a 30-7 win in its non conference finale. Senior Kye Bristow led all receivers with seven catches for 122 yards – a career best – and a pair of touchdowns.

Luke Lovell was 19 for 31, accounting for 244 yards and two touchdowns. In eight career starts, Lovell has thrown for at least 240 yards in all of them. Dilon Denison collected six receptions for 76 yards – both career highs for the junior.

With nine tackles, including two for loss, Brandon Camfield paced the Briton defense while Camden Orlando contributed eight tackles. Nick Fannon added to the stat line with six tackles, three sacks, three quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. Freshman Orlando Daniels registered sacks on back to back plays, accounting for 11 yards.

Devin Fridley-Bell returned just two punts, but they were an explosive two, totaling for 77 yards and a touchdown.

Winning the toss and choosing to receive, Albion made use of the decision with a 78-yard touchdown drive. Bristow hauled in his first TD pass of the afternoon, a 41-yarder, putting the Brits up 6-0. Logan Grwinski's PAT was good, as Albion led 7-0 early on.

After a missed Pointer field goal, the Britons took over at their own 20. Capitalizing on the miss, Albion increased its lead to 14-0 after a 15-yard James Bloomfield touchdown. On the ensuing possession, the hosts forced a three and out. With no scouting report on Fridley-Bell, the Pointers punted right to the sophomore, who broke three tackles and raced to the end zone for a 74-yard TD. The score was DFB's second in as many weeks, making yet another case for the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week. Albion led 21-0 after one quarter.

In the second, the Britons got on the scoreboard again after Lovell connected with Bristow for a 5-yard TD strike. Albion took a 27-0 advantage into halftime, with full momentum on its side.

Grwinski sailed a 33-yard field goal through the uprights to cap off Albion's scoring for the afternoon. UWSP did not get on the board until the fourth quarter.

For the fifth straight season, Albion finishes perfect in non conference action. Next Saturday, the 4-0 Brits commence MIAA play with a 1 p.m. kickoff against Kalamazoo in their Homecoming contest.
