VB responds with split on Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Albion College volleyball team concluded their weekend with a split at the Calvin Invitational. Albion fell to UW-Platteville before responding with a 3-1 win over Concordia (WI).

Albion was sluggish in their first match, being swept by the Pioneers.

In the second match, Olivia Alexander's 14 kills led the way for the Brits. Carly Frank added eight while Jenna Schienke finished with seven. Ja'Nyece Larry was dominant at the net, recording seven total blocks in the win.

Freshman Paige Williamson led Albion with 28 digs. Three Brits finished with eight digs in the win – Alexander, Courtney Companion and Brinley McCaig. McCaig and Mariah Brenz ran the offense, accounting for 16 and 21 assists apiece.

Following the tournament, Brenz was named to the All-Tournament team.

No. 2 Hope comes to town on Tuesday for the MIAA opener. Match time is slated for 6:30 p.m. with JV to follow.
