Volleyball falls short to No. 2 Hope

ALBION – Despite a feverish rally to force a fourth set, the Albion College volleyball team dropped its MIAA opener to No. 2 Hope College, 3-1. A poor passing second set hurt the Britons, as well as a team hitting percentage of .121.

Paige Williamson was stellar in the back row, accounting for 24 digs. The freshman also had a pair of aces and two of the more unethical – but useful – kills. 

Olivia Alexander was the only Albion player to finish with double digit kills, registering 13. Carly Frank tacked on eight, as she, Reese Williams and Ja'Nyece Larry all tallied six total blocks in the match.

Down two sets to none, Albion had an incredible rally in the third set with a 30-28 win. Williams had a kill to push the Brits ahead, 29-28, before she and Frank blocked a Hope attack to extend the match.

The Britons will look to respond Saturday with another MIAA match at Trine. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
