Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleybrits open conference play with sweep

ALBION – They're young. They're scrappy. And they're 1-0 in the MIAA.

Opening conference play on Tuesday, the Albion College volleyball team swept Kalamazoo College. The Britons erased deficits in the first two sets before running away with the third, securing the MIAA victory.

Carly Frank and Kayda Herrick powered the offense, combining for 25 kills. Herrick's 13 led the Brits, while Frank tallied 12 from the right side. Frank was incredibly effective, hitting at a .458 mark for the match.

Freshmen setters Joelle Boeskool and Molly Edmunds ran the Albion offense. This was the second straight game where Boeskool dished out 22 assists, as Edmunds finished with 16.

Paige WIlliamson – the MIAA's leader in digs – led all players with 19 digs to go along with a game-best four aces. Herrick finished a dig shy of a double-double with nine digs in the win. Fellow sophomore Reese Williams had four total blocks in the middle. Margaret Jones added six kills, two aces and a solo block.

Albion limited the Hornets to a .078 attacking percentage – the lowest for an opponent this season.

Next Wednesday, the Britons head to The University of Olivet for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
