Volleyball sweeps Alma, stays perfect in MIAA

ALBION – Capped off by a furious comeback in the final set, the Albion College volleyball team dominated Alma College, sweeping the Scots in straight sets. The Britons held the visitors to just a .071 attacking percentage in the win.

Freshman Kayda Herrick led all players with a game-high 13 kills. Herrick was solid on all facets, contributing three aces, eight digs and one assisted block. 

The duo of Molly Edmunds and Joelle Boeskool turned in another solid performance, each dishing out double-digit assists. Edmunds finished the night with 18 assists, as Boeskool tallied 14. Paige Williamson – the MIAA leader in digs – led the Brits with 12 digs. 

Albion trailed 21-18 in the third set, on the brink of having to extend the match. Herrick and Bri Whitfield had back to back kills, followed by an ace from Ava Wilcox to tie the match at 21. After an Alam point, the Britons scored the final four, ending in another Herrick kill to seal the win. 

Albion heads to nationally ranked Hope College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. match.
