Hunt seat places third in both weekend shows

FINDLAY, Ohio – Over the weekend, the Albion College hunt seat equestrian team rode to a pair of third place finishes.

Starting off Saturday's show, Phoebe Martin turned in a pair of fourth place finishes, coming in Open Flat and Open Fences. Following Martin was Rebecca Till in Limit Fences, finishing fifth to score points for the Brits.

Melany Duenas Lopez earned her first career IHSA win, coming in Introductory. In Open Flat, freshman Anna Huard placed second. The next event was Intermediate Flat, where Albion saw Victoria Panasiuk and Kate Woerner place fourth and sixth.

Three Albion riders placed in Novice – Beatrice Eng-McDonald (third), Amelia Kish (fourth) and Isabelle Adkins (sixth). Finishing the day in Limit Flat were Jake Jaworski (second), Simone Taylor (third) and Till (fifth).

On Sunday, Martin kicked things off with a runner-up finish in Open Fences. Following in Limit Fences were fifth and sixth place finishes from Lucia Scouted and Till.

Duenas Lopez's winning ways extended into Sunday, winning the Introductory and qualifying for Regionals in the process. Following Duenas Lopez's win was Eng-McDonald, earning her first collegiate victory in Novice.

In Intermediate, Woerner placed second and Panasuik finished fifth. Scouten later followed with a runner-up showing in Limit Flat. Katelyn Proshek was third in Pre-Novice to round out the competition.

The hunt seat team returns to action Nov. 9-10 at Lake Erie College.
