All bark, no bite. Football tames Bulldogs on Homecoming

ALBION – The Albion College football team left no doubt that GDTBAB in fact stands for "It's a great day to be a Brit" with a 38-27 win over Adrian College. In front of a Homecoming crowd, the Britons scored early and often to improve to 4-1 overall, 2-0 in the MIAA.

Senior quarterback Luke Lovell was 16 of 25 for 254 yards and four touchdowns. This is the second consecutive week Lovell has thrown for four touchdowns. On the ground, Colby Taylor-Browning led Albion with 11 carries for 89 yards.

A myriad of receivers were involved on Saturday, seeing 11 different players catch passes.

With eight total tackles, Jayth Joseph led Albion. Newly-turned defensive player Connor Davey ended with two TFL.

The Britons got on the board early in the first quarter when Lovell found Dorian Armstrong for a 21-yard touchdown strike. After one quarter, Albion led 7-0, but the Bulldogs tied it up on their first possession of the second quarter. Immediately responding, Lovell found a wide open Taylor-Browning for a 7-yard reception and a 14-7 lead.

Forcing a three and out, Albion padded its lead thanks to a short touchdown in the back of the end zone to Dilon Denison. The hosts took that 21-7 lead into halftime.

In the third, Logan Grwinski added a 32-yard field goal to inflate the lead. Grwinski was also a perfect 5 for 5 on PATs. Later in the third, the Britons got another TD – this one from Cameron Moore – holding a 31-14 lead heading into the final 15 minutes.

Sophomore Nevin Dent provided Albion's final score, a 2-yard rush.

The Britons will head into a bye week before a trip to MIAA preseason favorite, Alma College. On Oct. 19, Albion will take on the Scots at 1 p.m.
