Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's basketball suffers first loss of '24-25

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – A halftime lead slipped away from the Albion College men's basketball team, dropping a 79-72 decision to Manchester University. The host Spartans connected on 11 3-pointers to knock off the Brits in the contest.

Junior guard Kam Mayes led the visitors with 24 points on a 9 of 14 effort. Beck Willems scored a career-high 17 points, burying three of five 3-pointers.

From the tip, Albion cruised out to a decent lead early on. Leading by double digits in the first half, the Spartans rallied to cut the deficit to single digits. With the Britons in foul trouble, Manchester took advantage and trimmed Albion's advantage to 35-31 at the half.

With 5:55 on the clock, Manchester evened the score at 61 before an 8-0 run helped the Spartans secure a three possession lead.

Mayes and Wilklems were the only Britons to score in double figures. Michael Umeh pulled down a career-best eight rebounds, as BJ Hunter added six boards and five assists to his stat line.

Manchester turned 24 Albion turnovers into 18 points.

Albion returns to its home court on Saturday, welcoming Westminster College for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
