Game Recap: Football |

Football dominates in final home game

ALBION – Outscoring Olivet 21-0 in the third quarter, the Albion College football team completed its home slate with a 49-14 drubbing of the Comets. Albion put up 514 yards of total offense, compared to 264 by the visitors.

Senior Luke Lovell left Sprankle-Sprandel in fitting fashion, completing 20 of 25 passes for 302 yards and four touchdowns. 11 different receivers hauled in passes, led by Aiden Adams's 71 yard day. CJ Weems Jr. recorded four catches for 65 yards and a TD, while Dilon Denison added a pair of touchdowns.

Colby Taylor-Browning led the ground game for the Brits, rushing for 51 yards on eight carries with two touchdowns.

Tight end-turned linebacker Connor Davey led Albion's defense with nine total tackles, seven solo. He and Jayth Joseph also picked off Olivet passes in the win. Joseph, Adam Mills and Joe Czarnecki all contributed seven total tackles apiece.

Forcing Olivet to turn the ball over on downs after a muffed punt, the Brits had great field position at the Comet 26. It took Albion just four plays for Taylor-Browning to find the end zone for a 13-yard TD. Olivet answered with a touchdown on the ensuing possession before the hosts grabbed a 14-7 lead by the end of the opening period, thanks to another Taylor-Browning touchdown.

By the half, the hosts had a 21-14 advantage, courtesy of a 13-yard touchdown pass to Dilon Denison. In the third, Albion received touchdowns from Denison, Trevor Smith and Weems Jr. to hold a commanding lead going into the fourth quarter.

Albion's final touchdown came from Zander Desentz to Braden Fracassi.

Logan Grwinski was a perfect 6 of 6 in PATs, as Nick Errer was 1 of 1.

Next Saturday, the Brits conclude the 2024 season with a 1 p.m. kickoff at Olivet.
