Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Umeh, Barden power MBB over Huntingdon

ATLANTA, Ga. – Michael Umeh's monster day and a clutch three by AJ Barden lifted the Albion College men's basketball team to an 85-78 overtime victory over Huntingdon. Umeh scored a career-high 25 points and secured 18 rebounds, as Barden drained a triple with 2.3 seconds on the clock to force overtime.

The win snaps a three game losing skid for the Britons, improving to 5-5 overall.

As the two teams battled in a highly contested first half, seeing the Hawks take a 31-29 lead into the break. In the second half, Albion built a lead late in the game, but Huntingdon battled to eventually regain the lead.

Albion trailed by three with under a minute remaining. Getting a stop on defense, the Britons had a shot to send the game to overtime. With under five seconds on the clock and the ball on the sideline, a long lob eventually found the hands of Barden. Barden calmly drained his third three of the day, as the game was tied at 67 at the end of regulation. The fifth year senior finished with 12 points.

The Brits opened overtime on a 5-0 run, thanks to baskets from Umeh and Kurtis Rhodes. Both thrived being slotted into starting roles, as Rhodes scored 14 points for Albion.

Holding the Hawks to empty possessions, Rhodes vaulted the Britons up for good with a layup with 52 seconds on the clock. The bucket saw Albion claim a 78-70 lead.

Tomorrow, the Britons wrap up their Atlanta trip with a 4 p.m. game against host, Oglethorpe.
