Brits break scoring record in regular season finale

ALBION – In their regular season finale, the Albion College women's basketball team set a school record for points in a game with a 110-63 lopsided win over Saint Mary's College. The 110 points eclipses the previous record of 108, set back in 2017.

Emma Cooke scored a career-high 22 points and recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds. Riley Davis was an efficient 7 of 11 from the floor for 18 points, including a perfect mark from three.

Lolo Reed had a complete game for the Brits, scoring 13 points, grabbing eight boards and dishing out six assists. Sophomore Payton Baker tied a career-high with 12 points off the bench. Both DB Edwards and Brazyll Watkins finished in double figures with 10 points apiece. Ava Guilford added a game-high seven assists and tacked on nine points.

By the end of the first quarter, Albion had built a 27-15 lead over the Belles, with the scoring coming early and often from Davis. Guilford knocked down a 3-pointer in the waning seconds, lifting the advantage to 55-34 at the half.

The Britons maintained momentum throughout the entire contest, with all healthy players seeing action on Wednesday. In just 12 minutes, Anja Kelley added eight points, while freshman Meghan Trewhella recorded a career-best five assists.

Albion shot 59.7 percent from the field, including 58.3 from beyond the arc. Additionally, the Brits cashed in on 17 of their 22 free throw attempts, led by six from Reed.

The Britons will be idle until next week when they host the first round of the MIAA Tournament. Though the official bracket is not announced until the weekend, Albion will most likely host No. 5 seeded Alma.
