Game Recap: Baseball |

Kalamazoo tops baseball

ALBION – Facing off against one of the most prolific offenses around, the Albion College baseball team was swept by Kalamazoo College on Saturday. The Britons dropped game one, 18-8 before falling in the nightcap, 10-3.

Trailing 10-0 early on, the Britons rallied to cut the deficit to 10-8 in game one. After an error, Kris Stojanovski cranked his seventh home run of the season for two runs for the Britons. Following another error and a walk, a third Kalamazoo error allowed for a pair of runs to score, as Albion trailed 10-4 after four.

In the fifth, Mark Lauro worked a one out walk and another Hornet error put two aboard for Stojanovski. The junior drove in his third run of the day with an RBI single to left. Sophomore Evan Schuster followed with a double to left for another run. Ryker Mazey capped off the scoring with a two-run double to left, cutting the Kalamazoo lead to 10-8.

The Hornets went on to score eight unanswered to take game one.

In the second game, Albion grabbed the early lead, as Schuster led off the game with a base hit and scored on a triple from Matt McGann. McGann scored when Stojanovski lifted a sac fly for an early 2-0 lead.

Kalamazoo immediately responded, pushing across one run in the bottom of the inning and three more in the second. Albion's third run came courtesy of a Lauro sac fly.

Albion committed four errors and recorded just four hits in game two.

On Tuesday, the Britons head to Olivet for a single game with the Comets. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
