Men's tennis concludes Florida trip with big win

| Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. – An incredible finish to the trip helped the Albion College men's tennis team finish 1-2 in Florida. After dropping a pair of tough matches on Tuesday, the Brits responded for a thrilling 5-4 victory over Saint Mary's (MN) to wrap up the trip.

In Wednesday's win, the Britons battled in an incredible match. The match started with singles action, seeing the Brits trail 4-2. Albion's wins came at first and second singles from Brendan Morrison and Josh Doyle. Morrison gritted out a 6-4, 1-6, 12-10 win as Doyle cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win.

Both Jacob Doyle and Josh Doyle earned an 8-4 win at first doubles, followed by an 8-4 victory at second doubles by Drake Malcolm and Brendan Morrison. The Brits completed doubles play undefeated, with Brandon Blake and Jacob Kubiak securing the match with an 8-5 win at third doubles.

Throughout singles play, four matches went into tiebreakers.

On Tuesday, the men's team lost two matches despite some close set scores. In the first match of the day, the men's team fell to Wentworth, 8-1. Albion's lone win of the match came from sophomore Jacob Doyle at fifth singles. Doyle battled to defeat his opponent with scores of 6-3, 1-6, 10-6. At second singles, it was a tight loss for senior Drake Malcolm. Malcolm dropped his match by a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 margin.

In their second match, the Britons fell to Concordia-Wisconsin, 7-2. At second doubles, the Brits narrowly fell 8-6, as Albion was led by Malcolm and Brendan Morrison. Jacob Doyle went on to win his second singles match of the day with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 win at fifth singles. Freshman Jacob Kubiak's win was the final one of the evening at six singles (6-2, 6-1).

Albion will be idle until Mar. 23 when they open up MIAA action against Hope College at 11 a.m.
