Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball wins fourth straight

ALBION – Scoring eight of their nine runs in the final three innings, the Albion College baseball team erased an early lead to defeat The University of Olivet, 9-5. As a team, the Britons pounded out 12 hits, with four players having multi-hit days.

Trailing 4-0 through four, Albion's first run came in the bottom of the fifth. Ethan Caris led off the inning with a single and moved to second when Carson Dunn smacked a one-out single. Fifth year senior Mark Lauro put the Britons on a board with a single to right, driving in Caris.

Albion tacked on four in the home half of the sixth, aided by three Olivet errors. The go-ahead base hit came off the bat of Evan Schuster, who drove in a pair to give Albion a 5-4 lead. The sophomore finished with a pair of hits and two RBI on the day.

The Britons answered an Olivet run in the seventh with one of their own in the bottom of the inning. Ryker Mazey worked a one-out walk and advanced to third when Garrett Draper hit a single to right. A high chopper to short by Caris allowed for Mazey to score, regaining the lead for the Brits.

In the eighth, Albion plated three more runs, thanks to a RBI double by Matt McGann and a RBI single off the bat of Kris Stojanovski. Albion's final run was off a second base knock by Draper.

Scotty Clippert pitched a solid five innings in relief, striking out seven while allowing just one run. Sophomore Ian Balint earned the win, tossing 1.2 shutout innings.

On Friday, Albion hosts Alma for a 4 p.m. single game.
