Hope outlasts men's lacrosse

ALBION – Despite being in striking distance the entire game, costly turnovers hurt the Albion College men's lacrosse team in a 14-10 loss to Hope College. 

Timmy Salinas led Albion with three goals on the day, while senior Brock Yabs contributed three assists. Brendan Mercier also recorded three points, with one goal and a pair of assists. 

Through one quarter, the teams were tied at two as both of the Briton goals came from Salinas and Mercier. Hope went on to outscore the hosts 6-2 in the second, taking an 8-4 lead into halftime. In the second, the Brits received goals from Cal Stearns and Fabrizio Raciti. 

Out of the half, Albion scored the first two, thanks to both captains Salinas and Stearns. Hope went on a 3-0 run to distance themselves, 11-6. Robbie Dameron, Matt Montgomery and Marcus Haynie all netted goals before the end of the period, as Albion was down two heading into the final 15 minutes. 

An early goal from Salinas was answered by three straight Flying Dutch goals. 

Hope outshot Albion 56-32.

The Britons head to Kalamazoo on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. faceoff.
