Tennis sweeps Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. – Two solid performances by the Albion College tennis teams lifted the Britons over The University of Olivet. On Friday, the women won by a 9-0 margin, as the men claimed a 7-2 victory on Saturday. 

Starting off doubles action, Rosy Zuun and Josie Dunn won by an 8-4 margin. Both Keiley Black and Savannah McDonald as well as the three doubles tandem of Abbie Hubbard and Emma Madden won their matches, 8-1. 

In singles play, Zuun won at first singles, 6-3, 6-1. At second singles, Dunn won a hard fought battle by a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 score. Black made quick work of her opponent at third singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Hubbard picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory. McDonald handily won 6-1, 6-0 before freshman Molly Dunn defeated her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. 

In Saturday's men's match, Jacob Doyle and Josh Doyle opened up doubles play with an 8-6 win. Winning 8-5 at second doubles was Drake Malcolm and Brendan Morrison. Going into singles play, Albion held a 2-1 lead.

Josh Doyle won 6-3, 6-0 at second singles as Malcolm earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory at third singles. Freshman Peyton Bell picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win at fourth singles, as Jacob Doyle won 6-0, 6-4. Rounding out the win was Jacob Kubiak, a 6-0, 6-2 win at sixth singles. 

On Tuesday, the men's team hosts Alma College before the women welcome the Scots on Wednesday.
