Three from track and field earn Athlete of the Week honors

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Three members of the Albion College track and field team have been named MIAA Athletes of the Week. Tess Anthony and Avery Campbell swept the women's side, while Omar Gordon Jr. won the Men's Field award.

Campbell won two events and broke two meet and school records at last week's championship event. The senior won the 100m dash with a time of 11.77, now ranking her fifth in the nation. She clocked a 24.09 in the 200m dash en route to the win, as she now sits second nationally in the event. Campbell also was part of the 4x100m relay team that took third.

Anthony scored 19 points over the weekend, winning the hammer throw with a mark of 45.00m. Anthony turned in a great weekend as the Indoor Field Athlete of the Year looked to claim the honor in the outdoor season. She also placed third in the shot put with a mark of 11.89m and sixth in discus with a toss of 33.82m

Gordon Jr. – the 2023 MIAA Field Athlete of the Year – made a campaign to repeat by winning both the long jump and triple jump. He ran the first leg of the 4x100m relay team that won and set new meet and school records with a 41.35, and took seventh in the 200m dash (22.43).
