Gorno's goal helps women's soccer draw

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Claire Gorno's goal proved to be the equalizer, as the Albion College women's soccer team battled the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to a 1-1 draw on Friday afternoon. The freshman scored in the 34th minute before the Briton defense held tough for the remainder of the contest.

The Blugolds got on the board first with an early goal. Despite UWEC holding a sizable advantage in shots (22-7), that would be the only goal they would score in the match.

Gorno netted the equalizer on a one-touch shot late in the first half. It was the freshman's team-leading second goal of the season.

With help from the back line – including 90 minutes from Erica Fischer and Mia Czarnowski, goalkeeper Micaela Hohlbein recorded a career-best nine saves.

Tomorrow, Albion continues its neutral site weekend with a noon kickoff against Greenville.
