Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer earns first win of 2024

ALBION – Ella Jeske's game-winning strike lifted the Albion College women's soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Wheaton College. With the win, the Brits earn their first of the season to cap off a beautiful day on campus. 

Wheaton struck first in the 19th minute, but the hosts continued to apply pressure on the Thunder. In the 30th minute, Claire Gorno was fouled in the box and took the penalty kick. The freshman buried her first collegiate goal, knotting the game at 1-1 with a shot to the lower left corner. 

Maintaining momentum and possession for much of the contest, Jeske provided the game-winner in the 52nd minute. Coming off a feed from sophomore Abby O'Connell, Jeske rifled a shot past the Wheaton keeper to vault the hosts ahead. 

Micaela Hohlbein was solid in goal, making six saves for the Brits.

Albion heads to North Central this weekend for a pair of neutral site games. On Friday afternoon, the Brits will play UW-Eau Claire at 1:30 p.m.
