Fifth years lift MBB to conference victory

ALMA, Mich. – The two fifth year seniors stepped up in big ways, seeing the Albion College men's basketball team defeat Alma College, 83-55. 

Marco Lucchesi scored a season-high 23 points on an 8 of 13 shooting effort – highlighted by a perfect 7 for 7 at the free throw line. Fellow fifth year AJ Barden had 18 points, going 8 of 11 from the floor, and 11 rebounds. 

From the tip, the Britons controlled the momentum against a struggling Alma squad. By halftime, the visitors had built a 38-24 advantage. In the second half, the Brits were able to withstand a small run by the Scots, leaving with their first conference victory of the season. 

BJ Hunter (9 points), Kurtis Rhodes (8 points) and Michael Umeh (8 points) all contributed big buckets for Albion. 

Backed by Barden, Albion's bench scored 34 points and 17 second chance points. 

Albion is back on their home court Saturday for a 3 p.m. game against Kalamazoo College.
