Men's basketball commences conference slate

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Opening conference play, the Albion College men's basketball team found themselves at the wrong end of a 76-58 loss to Calvin University. The Brits trailed by just two at the half before the Knights exploded out of the locker room. 

Mekhi Wingfield led Albion with nine points – all coming from beyond the arc. BJ Hunter and Marco Lucchesi chipped in eight points apiece while AJ Barden blocked four shots. 

Albion ended the first half on an 8-0 run to close the gap to 35-33 at the break. In that stretch, Wingfield splashed a pair of 3-pointers, helping the visitors cut into the Calvin lead. 

The story was all Calvin in the second half, taking advantage of missed Albion shots and Briton turnovers. 

On Saturday, the Brits host the first half of a doubleheader against Adrian College. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.
