ALMA, Mich. -- The Albion College volleyball team earned its seventh consecutive victory in resounding fashion with a 3-0 walloping of Alma College.
Alma (9-11, 2-2 MIAA) couldn't contain Albion's (18-2, 3-0 MIAA) high-powered offense on Tuesday evening, as the Britons picked up their third-straight win via a sweep. Albion, which received votes in the latest AVCA coaches poll, hit .330 as a team against the Scots, marking the six time this season the Britons have posted a .300 or above attack percentage.
The Brits held the edge in almost every statistical category, leading the match in kills (41-17), aces (7-3), blocks (8-1), and assists (36-14). As good as Albion's offense was, the Britons' defense was just as stellar, as they held the Scots to a paltry -.082 attack percentage.
The trio of
Carly Frank,
Kayda Herrick, and
Bri Whitfield paced Albion's attack with 16, eight, and six kills, respectively. Frank's 16 kills brought her total for the season to 324, surpassing the 308 she floored a season ago.
Molly Edmunds organized Albion's stellar attack with 31 assists. The sophomore chipped in four digs and two blocks to round out the performance. On the defensive side of the ball,
Paige Williamson finished with a match-best 13 digs, while
Margaret Jones racked up a match-high five blocks. Ava WIlcox and Herrick each chipped in five digs apiece, while Frank added three blocks to bolster her offensive output.
