E-Sports Week in Review

On October 10, Albion faced Bethel in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. Bethel came in as the No. 2 team in the conference, and Albion made some good plays but lost 0-2.

Team Fight Tactics Enkhbaatar (Enke) Saranbaatar had another great match on October 13 after a canceled match last week with technical difficulties. He improved each round and placed 4th, 2nd, and 1st which vaulted him to second overall in the division.

Fortnite No builds (Purple) Izahia Salas and Jose Preciado had a solid day on October 14 as they placed 15th, 7th and 12th in their matches. They only registered two kills, but Preciado was able to clutch the last two matches with Salas going down early getting the team good placement points. (Gold) Marco Marquez and Emmanuel Rostor-Gonzalez also had solid weeks placing 3rd, 12th, and 11th with three kills. This builds off last week where they got jumped early.

Both teams are well within playoff contention.

Marvel Rivals played against Southern Connecticut State on October 15. The team had better communication in the match, but lost 0-3.

Super Smash Brothers Ultimate bounced back against Indiana Tech on October 16 and secured a 2-0 victory.  Heath Lapointe did not have to play much as Tanner Armstrong took eight stocks, the most of the season so far for him. Samuel Lynch was our anchor being the last man each time taking 12 total stocks.

Fortnite Builds had a rough first round on October 16, getting eliminated first and placing 25th in the first round. However, they bounced back and took back-to-back 13th places in a very tough lobby.

Overwatch 2 had their ECAC debut against Rio Grande on the same day.  The match started slow, losing game one, as the team learned how to play together. In the second game, the team settled in and won the match. In the third and fourth games, the team was playing well together but were getting punished by mistakes and Rio Grande took the victory 1-3.

Super Smash Brothers Ultimate took on Trine in person at Albion for the Homecoming festivities on October 17. Albion started fast and took game one without even playing all the players. Game two went down to the wire and Albion lost by only 1 stock. In game three, just like game one, Samuel Lynch clutched up and wiped two of Trine's players without losing a stock to give Albion the 2-1 win.
