Volleyball Battles in Sixth-Straight Win Over Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Following a tough, 3-1 loss to nationally-ranked Hope last Friday, the Albion volleyball squad got back to their winning ways with a 3-1 (25-23, 25-15, 21-25, 25-21) victory over Trine.

It marked the sixth consecutive victory against the Thunder and their 12th win in the last 13 matchups.

The Britons started the first set on a 4-0 run, but Trine scored seven of the next eight to take a 7-5 lead.

After four ties, Albion made it 13-10 but then Trine knotted the score at 14-14 and later 17-17 before taking a 20-18 advantage.

It remained neck and neck as two ties and a lead change later brought the lead to 22-21 in favor of Trine.

However, the Britons powered through and took four of the set's final five points, including two Carly Frank kills, to take the sequence.

The Thunder's only lead in the second came when the score was 2-1 early. Albion built an 11-6 lead and then piled on nine of the next 13 points to stretch their advantage to 20-10.

The Britons' final five points of the set all came on kills, with Frank notching three of them.

Trine did not make it easy on the visitors in the third set, as they forced nine ties and three lead changes before the score was knotted at 10-10.

Albion took a 19-16 advantage later in the set, but it was short lived as the Thunder rolled off nine of the set's final 11 points to avoid the sweep -- including four points on Briton errors.

Trine continued their momentum into the fourth and built an early 7-3 advantage. However, Albion scored the next five to take an 8-7 lead.

Despite the Thunder snatching the lead two more times to make it 11-10, the Britons would start to roll as they notched 10 of the next 13 points to take a 20-14 advantage.

Albion took advantage of six Thunder errors during the sequence.

After stretching the lead to 24-17, Trine scored the next four but a Kayda Herrick kill cemented the victory for Albion.

Frank reached 19 kills, while Herrick added 13 of her own. Molly Edmunds dished out 43 assists while Paige Williamson recorded 24 digs.
