Box Score ALBION, Mich. -- The Albion College volleyball team wrapped up its home schedule on a high note Wednesday evening with a 3-0 sweep of Saint Mary's College inside Kresge Gymnasium.
With the win, the Britons improved to 22–4 overall and 5–2 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. The Belles fell to 15–10 and 2–5 in the league.
Sophomore
Bri Whitfield paced the Albion offense with 12 kills and a career-high .478 hitting percentage, while classmate
Kayda Herrick added 11 kills and eight digs.
Carly Frank chipped in nine kills for the Britons, who hit .261 as a team.
Sophomore
Molly Edmunds directed the attack with 39 assists to go along with 14 digs, while senior
Paige Williamson led the back row with 16 digs and two aces. Herrick, Whitfield, and Frank each added a service ace, while
Ava Wilcox posted a match-high four aces.
Albion came out strong in the opening set and used a .333 attack percentage to take an early lead en route to a 25–19 win. The second frame proved to be the tightest of the match as the Britons fended off a late Saint Mary's rally, pulling out a 28–26 victory to go up 2–0. In the third, Albion controlled the flow from start to finish, limiting the Belles to a .069 hitting percentage to close out the sweep, 25–15.
As a team, Albion led Saint Mary's in kills, 47–34, and held a .261–.150 advantage in hitting percentage. The Britons also served 11 aces compared to the Belles' six.
