Football Rolls to Victory in 125th Meeting with Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. -- The Albion football team came out on top in an offensive shootout in an away matchup against Olivet, 58-42.

Senior running back Tayshaun Nichols began the scoring for the Britons with a 40-yard rushing touchdown to open up the contest. Junior Braden Fracassi added a receiving and rushing touchdown as part of the Albion scoring drives in the opening quarter.

Fracassi continued to add points for the Britons, as he returned a 52-yard punt to the house in the early going of the second quarter. Senior tailback Nevin Dent recorded a rushing touchdown during another drive, and Nichols scored another touchdown off the ground again to help Albion take a 41-22 lead heading into halftime.

Albion got on the board for the first time in the second half off a 45-yard field goal kick from senior Logan Grwinski.

Olivet's scoring drive at the beginning of the fourth kept the contest interesting by putting Albion's lead back to just one score. Freshman quarterback Davis Crossman, who ended up going 13 for 17 and throwing for 252 yards, had a three-yard touchdown run to give the Britons the first score of the half right after. Dent got his second score of the day to give Albion enough to come away with a tough win on the road.

Senior Adam Mills led the team with 12 tackles.

The win gives the Britons their first conference win of the year, and the 100 points scored were the most combined in the series' 141-year history (125 games). Albion concludes the season next week on Saturday, November 15 at home against Calvin at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
