ALBION, Mich. -- Braden Fracassi and
Garrett Whiting have each earned D3football.com All-Region 4 honors.
Fracassi was named to the second team as a returner, while Whiting notched a spot on the third team as a long snapper. The duo are the first returner and long snapper to ever earn All-Region honors from Albion.
The junior Fracassi combined for 448 kick/punt return yards, which ranked fourth in the MIAA and top 100 in Division III. He was also second in the conference and 37th in Division III in yards per punt return (9.8) and first in the MIAA and eighth in Division III in total punt return yards (246).
Against Olivet, the South Lyon, Mich. native had a rushing score, receiving score and 52-yard punt return touchdown all in the first half.
Fracassi also played every special teams snap and helped the Britons rank in the top four in the MIAA in kickoff return average (19.76) and punt return average (9.46) for new special teams coordinator
Bryan Sander, who started in mid-August. Fracassi tied for second on the team with five special teams tackles.
Whiting was a snapper who helped the special teams unit stay consistent, as he snapped on almost all field goals, PATs and punts in all 30 career games played.
He was perfect on every snap this season and was a key component to the success of kicker
Logan Grwinski, who tied for fifth in Division III in field goals made with 12. Grwinski was also one of 11 kickers in Division III to make 12 or more field goals this season and tied for first in the MIAA in field goal percentage (.667). Grwinski kicked four field goals against Rose-Hulman and Trine, becoming the first kicker in Albion history to make four field goals in back-to-back games and tied the record for most field goals made in a game from 1998.Â
Whiting also made a tackle while covering a punt against Trine.
