Hunt seat has stellar weekend in Ohio

FINDLAY, Ohio – Over the weekend, the Albion College hunt seat equestrian team had a great showing at The University of Findlay. In Saturday's show, the Britons finished third overall before clinching Reserve Champion honors on Sunday.

Junior Phoebe Martin took sixth in both of her events – Open Flat and Open Fences. Adding to Albion's score was Anna Huard, finishing third in Intermediate Fences and fourth in Open Fences. Also placing in Limit Fences was Simone Taylor (third) and Rebecca Till (fifth).

Taking fifth in Introductory was first year Althea Schalow. Earning second place in Novice was Amelia Kish. In Intermediate Flat, Katie Woerner finished fifth while Victoria Panasiuk was sixth.

Both Jacob Jaworski and Lucia Scouten placed second in their sections of Limit Flat. Rounding out the day, Katelyn Proshek won Pre-Novice, and Daniah Al-Saffar was fourth in Introductory.

Once again, Martin started off Sunday's show finishing sixth in Open Fences and Flat. Huard, a first-year, was third in Open Flat. Panasiuk rode to a pair of fourth place finishes in Intermediate Fences and Intermediate Flat.

Till picked up a big win in Limit Flat and added a sixth place finish in Limit Fences. Also placing in their sections of those events were Jaworski (third, Limit Fences) and Scouten (sixth, Limit Flat).

Al-Saffar took second in Introductory, as Schalow was fourth in the event. Riding in her first Pre-Novice class was Melany Duenas-Lopez, claiming third. Ending the weekend, WQoerner was fifth in Intermediate Fences and Olivia Sliwinski placed third in Novice.

The Brits are back in action at home on Feb. 22.
