Women's wrestling sends three to Nationals

ADRIAN, Mich. – Jayla, Abbie, Brynn … welcome to Nationals.

On Saturday, the Albion College women's wrestling team saw three punch tickets to Nationals at the NCWWC Regional. Jayla Oberst, Abbie Miles and Brynn Green will all head to Iowa Mar. 8-9 for the National Tournament. As a team, the Britons placed fourth, scoring 80.5 points.

Miles claimed third at 207, going 3-1 on Saturday. In her final two bouts, she won via fall, including one in 1:04 to qualify for Nationals.

Oberst, becoming a three-time National Qualifier, placed fourth at 124. The senior won via tech fall and responded after two losses for the crucial win to seal her spot in Iowa.

At 160, Green took fourth, highlighted by a tech fall and two pins before her final win to punch a ticket to Nationals.

Juniors Gabby Motz (103) and Lynsey Light (110) each turned in 1-3 records on the day. They both placed sixth in their weight classes.

Hannah Arledge went 2-3 at 131. Both of Arledge's victories came by fall (4:45, 2:50) to finish sixth. Freshman Keaton Hood had a strong showing at her first Regionals, going 3-3 with all three wins coming with bonus points.

Abigail Gearin, Brynn Campbell and Maddie Hazeltine went 0-2.

On Mar. 8-9, Oberst, Miles and Green will head to the NCWWC National Tournament. More details will follow in the coming days.
