Baseball starts 2025, Rix era with win

DEMOREST, Ga. – Cranking out 18 hits in their 2025 debut, the Albion College baseball team earned a 12-2 win over Greensboro College. Seniors Ryker Mazey and Ethan Caris each contributed four hits in the win. It also marks the first win for interim head coach, Matt Rix.

In the top of the second, Caris cranked the first pitch he saw down the left field line for a double. Austyn Stephens followed with a triple to right center, plating Caris and giving Albion a 1-0 lead. Sam Archambeau followed with a single to right for a 2-0 Briton lead. 

Albion plated three runs in the top of the fourth, thanks in part to RBI singles by Mazey and Braeden Emery. The Britons tacked on another in the fifth when Jack Lasceski drove in Archambeau. Lasceski was 3 for 4 with four RBI on the day. 

In the top of the eighth, Lasceski drove in two more with a single. Albion capped off the scoring with another hit off the bat of Mazey. 

Stephens and Caris each drove in a pair in the win. As a team, the Britons smacked six extra base hits with two coming from Caris. 

Southpaw Cole Giesige tossed five innings (1-0), allowing just one earned run and striking out five. Daniel Bruzdewicz threw the last three to earn the save, allowing just one hit. 

The Britons have a quick turnaround, playing Piedmont at noon on Saturday.
