Schuster, bullpen give baseball win

ADA, Ohio – Nine pitchers. Nine effective innings.

On a true bullpen day, the Albion College baseball team earned an 11-4 win over a streaking Ohio Northern University. With nine different pitchers each getting an inning on the mound, the Britons were able to effectively slow down the ONU offense. 

Albion was led by Evan Schuster's three hit, three RBI performance. Kris Stojanovski also added a three-hit day, as the Britons charged out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. 

Schuster drove in Albion's first run in the top of the second. Two batters later, the junior came around to score when Ryker Mazey singled to left for a 2-0 lead. The Britons tacked on two more in the fourth, as Braeden Emery and Stojanovski cranked back to back hits to double the lead. 

In the top of the sixth, the Britons received RBI base knocks from Sam Archambeau and Carson Dunn to inflate the advantage to 6-0. Albion's big inning came in the seventh scoring four runs off four hits and one Polar Bear error. An infield single off the bat of Ethan Caris was later followed by a two-run single from Schuster. The ONU error allowed one more run to score for a 10-0 lead. Albion's final run of the game also came via error. 

Daniel Bruzdewicz (2-1) served as the opener, earning the win. Sean Cooper, Brendan Schultz, Drew Renner, Zak Kelly, Brandon Lipson, Ian Balint, Jack Renner and Ryan Driscoll were solid in relief. 

The Britons kick off MIAA play on Friday with a 4 p.m. contest against Kalamazoo.
